ONE BIKE. EVERY ROAD.
The Ridley Grifn Shimano 105 Di2 Carbon is designed for riders who don't want to choose between a fast road bike and something capable of exploring beyond perfect tarmac.
Combining the speed and responsive character of a performance road machine with the comfort, tyre clearance and versatility of an all-road bike, the Grifn is equally at home on fast Sunday club rides, long Gran Fondos, broken country lanes and stretches of light gravel.
This Shimano 105 Di2 specification gives the Grifn a serious performance edge. Fast and precise 12-speed electronic shifting is combined with 38mm-deep Forza Skiron carbon wheels, proven DT Swiss 370 hubs and 32mm Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres to create a bike that feels quick and responsive straight out of the box.
You can ride it with the fast group on Sunday, take the rough back roads home, fit wider tyres for an all-road adventure or add mudguards and turn it into a seriously capable year-round machine.
The Grifn doesn't ask you to choose between road and gravel. It gives you the freedom to ride both.
TWO WORLDS. ONE BIKE.
The Grifn sits deliberately between Ridley's pure road and gravel platforms. Rather than taking a conventional road bike and simply increasing the tyre clearance, Ridley developed the Grifn specifically around the all-road category.
On smooth tarmac, it retains the reactive and agile character expected from a performance road bike. When the surface deteriorates, its increased tyre clearance, carefully balanced geometry and greater stability allow you to keep riding with confidence.
That balance is what makes the Grifn special. Fit fast road tyres and chase the local cycling club, or increase the tyre volume and start linking together tarmac, gravel tracks and forgotten country lanes.
It isn't a gravel bike pretending to be a road bike, and it isn't a road bike with oversized tyres squeezed into the frame. It's a genuine all-road bike designed from the beginning to perform across both worlds.
Ridley describes the Grifn as its attempt to break cycling's famous N+1 rule, and it's easy to understand why.
ALL-ROAD GEOMETRY
The Grifn's geometry is fundamental to its versatility. Ridley developed it as an overlap between the reactive character of a stiff racing platform and the more forgiving, stable handling expected from an off-road machine.
Its head angle is slightly more relaxed than a conventional road race bike but sharper than a dedicated gravel bike. The result is a riding position and handling balance specifically designed for all-road riding.
On tarmac, the Grifn still feels responsive and eager to change direction. Move onto rougher surfaces and there's enough additional stability to relax, trust the front wheel and maintain momentum.
The 420mm chainstays keep the rear end responsive when you accelerate, while the overall wheelbase provides a reassuringly composed feel when the surface becomes unpredictable.
It's quick enough to make a fast road ride exciting, yet stable enough to give you the confidence to keep going when the road beneath you changes completely.
SHIMANO 105 Di2 – ELECTRONIC PERFORMANCE
Shimano 105 Di2 is an outstanding match for the Grifn.
The 12-speed electronic drivetrain delivers the fast, accurate and beautifully consistent shifting that has made Shimano Di2 such a benchmark in modern road cycling. Gear changes require minimal lever effort and remain precise whether you're accelerating hard, climbing or simply making small cadence adjustments while sitting in a fast-moving group.
The 50/34T Shimano 105 crankset is paired with an 11–34T 12-speed cassette, creating an exceptionally versatile gearing range.
The 50-tooth outer chainring provides plenty of top-end speed for rapid road riding, while the 34x34 lowest combination gives you a genuine 1:1 climbing gear. That's ideal for an all-road bike, particularly when the route includes steep country lanes, long mountain climbs or rougher terrain where maintaining a smooth cadence becomes more important than pushing an enormous gear.
Shimano hydraulic disc brakes complete the package with powerful, predictable braking and excellent modulation, giving you confidence whether you're descending quickly on dry tarmac or dealing with wet and unpredictable conditions.
Fast shifting, excellent braking and a huge usable gearing range make 105 Di2 an ideal drivetrain for a bike designed to do almost everything.
FORZA SKIRON CR38 – CARBON-WHEEL PERFORMANCE
This is where this particular Grifn specification takes a significant step beyond a conventional 105 Di2 build.
Ridley equips the bike with 38mm-deep Forza Skiron carbon wheels using DT Swiss 370 hubs.
The 38mm rim depth hits a particularly useful sweet spot for an all-road bike. There's enough depth to provide the aerodynamic profile and responsive character you want from a fast road machine without pushing the bike too far towards an extreme deep-section race setup.
That makes them perfectly suited to the Grifn.
They complement fast road riding and rolling terrain while remaining versatile enough for long-distance days, climbing and mixed-surface routes.
Proven DT Swiss 370 hubs sit at the centre of the wheelset, while tubeless-ready construction gives you the option of taking advantage of modern tubeless tyres and lower pressures.
The result is a wheel package that complements the Grifn rather than defining it. They're fast enough for serious road riding, light and responsive enough to keep the bike feeling lively and versatile enough to work beautifully across the huge variety of terrain the Grifn has been designed to tackle.
VITTORIA CORSA N.EXT – FAST ROAD RUBBER
The carbon wheels are paired with 32mm Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres, giving the bike an excellent starting point for fast road and all-road riding.
A modern 32mm performance tyre offers significantly more volume than the narrow race tyres traditionally fitted to road bikes, allowing lower pressures for improved grip, comfort and control without sacrificing the responsive character expected from a performance road setup.
That extra volume becomes particularly valuable on real-world roads. Smooth tarmac can quickly turn into broken country lanes, rough chipseal and imperfect surfaces, and the larger tyre allows the bike to maintain composure and speed rather than bouncing across every imperfection.
For predominantly road-based riding, the standard 32mm setup makes a huge amount of sense.
But it's only the beginning of what the Grifn can accommodate.
38MM TYRE CLEARANCE – KEEP GOING WHEN THE TARMAC STOPS
With its Shimano 2x drivetrain, the Grifn provides clearance for tyres measuring up to 38mm in actual width.
That means you can dramatically alter the character of the bike simply by changing tyres.
Stick with 30–32mm performance rubber and the Grifn feels fast, responsive and perfectly suited to club rides, Gran Fondos and long road days. Move towards a 35–38mm all-road tyre and gravel tracks, forest roads and rough country lanes suddenly become part of the route rather than something to avoid.
Configure the Grifn with a 1x drivetrain and the platform can accommodate tyres measuring up to 40mm in actual width, while a mudguard-equipped bike can still accept tyres measuring up to 32mm.
It's an enormous amount of versatility from one carbon frameset and one of the biggest reasons the Grifn can genuinely replace several more specialised bikes.
11 MOUNTING POINTS – BUILD IT YOUR WAY
Look beyond the carbon wheels and electronic drivetrain and the Grifn reveals another side of its personality.
The frame features 11 mounting points, allowing the bike to be configured around everything from a stripped-back fast road ride to a much bigger adventure.
Mounting points on and underneath the downtube and on the seat tube allow bottle cages and luggage to be positioned around your requirements, while dedicated top-tube mounts provide a neat location for an additional bag or toolkit.
When those top-tube mounts aren't required, they can be concealed beneath a cover to preserve the clean appearance of the bike.
For a quick evening blast, keep the bike completely stripped back. For an all-day adventure or multi-day trip, use the mounting points to carry the equipment you need.
The Grifn adapts around the ride rather than forcing the ride to adapt around the bike.
READY FOR ALL-WEATHER RIDING
The Grifn isn't a performance carbon bike that needs to disappear into the garage as soon as summer ends.
Ridley developed dedicated mudguards specifically for the platform, allowing the Grifn to become a highly capable winter training bike or fast commuter. Even with mudguards installed, the bike retains clearance for tyres measuring up to 32mm in actual width.
The fork also incorporates internal routing for a dynamo hub cable, allowing a permanent lighting system to be fitted without having external wires, tape or zip ties running along the fork leg.
There's even internal routing through the top tube for a rear-light cable.
These details might not generate the same excitement as electronic shifting or carbon wheels, but they're incredibly valuable if you want one premium carbon bike that can genuinely be ridden throughout the year.
ESSENTIAL SERIES CARBON
At the heart of the Grifn is Ridley's Essential Series carbon chassis.
The objective isn't simply to chase the lowest possible frame weight. The carbon construction has been developed around the combination of stiffness, comfort, durability and versatility required from a genuine all-road platform.
The result is a bike that responds when you accelerate without becoming punishing when a ride stretches into hour five, six or seven.
Ridley quotes an unpainted frame weight of approximately 935g to 1,025g depending on frame size, which is particularly impressive when you consider the bike's generous tyre clearance, extensive mounting options and practical all-weather features.
The full-carbon 4ZA AllRoad fork follows the same philosophy, incorporating mudguard compatibility and internal dynamo routing while maintaining the clean appearance expected from a modern performance bike.
UDH – MODERN AND PRACTICAL
The Grifn uses SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger standard, despite this particular model being equipped with a Shimano drivetrain.
UDH provides a standardised hanger that's easier to source and replace than many proprietary designs. That's especially useful on a bike intended for travelling, exploring and covering serious mileage.
It's the kind of feature you may barely think about when everything is working perfectly, but one you'll appreciate enormously if you ever need a replacement while away from home.

THE BIKE THAT MAKES YOU RETHINK N+1
Every cyclist knows the N+1 rule: the correct number of bikes is always one more than you currently own.
The Grifn makes a surprisingly convincing argument against it.
Take this Shimano 105 Di2 build exactly as it comes and you've got a seriously capable performance road bike with electronic shifting, carbon wheels and fast 32mm tyres. Put wider rubber on it and you've got an all-road machine capable of exploring well beyond the tarmac. Add mudguards and it becomes a superb winter trainer, while dynamo lighting and luggage can turn it into a long-distance adventure machine.
You could commute on it on Monday, train on it on Wednesday, ride with the fast group on Saturday and disappear down an unknown gravel road on Sunday.
Few bikes can cover that spectrum convincingly.
The Grifn can.
THE 105 Di2 CARBON SWEET SPOT
This Shimano 105 Di2 carbon-wheel build hits an exceptionally attractive sweet spot in the Grifn range.
Shimano 105 Di2 gives you the electronic shifting experience that has transformed modern performance road bikes. Gear changes are fast, effortless and beautifully consistent, while the 50/34T crankset and 11–34T cassette provide exactly the kind of versatile gearing an all-road bike needs.
The carbon wheels then elevate the complete package.
At 38mm deep, the Forza Skirons provide enough depth to give the bike genuine performance-road character without sacrificing the versatility that makes the Grifn so appealing. Add proven DT Swiss 370 hubs and 32mm Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres and there's no obvious component that immediately demands upgrading.
That's important.
You're not buying an excellent frameset with a basic wheel package that you'll immediately want to replace. You're getting a complete bike that's ready to be ridden properly from day one.
Charge the Di2 battery, set your tyre pressures and go.
FAST ENOUGH FOR THE ROAD. CAPABLE ENOUGH FOR EVERYTHING ELSE.
Perhaps the cleverest thing about the Grifn is that its versatility doesn't dominate the riding experience.
When you're hammering along smooth tarmac on 32mm tyres and carbon wheels, you're not constantly reminded that the bike can take mudguards, bags and wider tyres. It simply feels like a fast road bike.
Then the surface deteriorates. The lane becomes narrower, the tarmac becomes rougher and eventually the road turns to gravel.
Suddenly all that extra capability matters.
A pure race bike might encourage you to turn around, while a dedicated gravel bike may have felt like unnecessary compromise for the previous 50 miles.
On the Grifn, you simply keep riding.
BUILT FOR THE RIDE YOU DIDN'T PLAN
Some of the best rides begin with a carefully planned route. The really memorable ones often stop following it.
You're halfway through a Sunday ride when somebody spots a narrow lane disappearing between two hedges. Nobody knows exactly where it goes. The road gets rougher, then narrower, and before long there's gravel underneath your tyres.
On the Grifn, that doesn't have to mean turning around.
It means finding out what's at the other end.
That's the philosophy behind the bike. It isn't really about choosing between road and gravel. It's about having the freedom to ride wherever the route takes you.
THE BOTTOM LINE
The Ridley Grifn Shimano 105 Di2 Carbon is an exceptionally complete interpretation of the modern all-road bike.
It combines the responsive character of a performance road machine with the tyre clearance, stability and practical features required to explore considerably further.
Shimano 105 Di2 provides superb 12-speed electronic shifting, while the 50/34T crankset and 11–34T cassette give you the gearing range needed for everything from fast road sections to long climbs and brutally steep back lanes.
The 38mm Forza Skiron carbon wheels with DT Swiss 370 hubs give this build genuine performance credentials straight from the box, while 32mm Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres strike an excellent balance between speed, comfort and control.
The real magic, however, remains the Grifn platform itself. With up to 38mm tyre clearance using a 2x drivetrain, up to 40mm with 1x, eleven mounting points, dedicated mudguard compatibility, internal dynamo and rear-light routing, UDH and geometry specifically developed to bridge the gap between road and gravel, this is a bike that's incredibly difficult to pigeonhole.
Take it on the fast Sunday ride, enter a Gran Fondo, fit the mudguards and train through winter or turn down the gravel shortcut simply because you've never ridden it before.
The Grifn gives you the freedom to decide where the ride goes after you've already left home.
RIDLEY GRIFN 105 Di2 CARBON – ONE BIKE. EVERY ROAD. NO NEED TO TURN AROUND.
