Alcide Basso

Basso Bikeswas founded in 1977 by Italian frame builder Alcide Basso, whose passion for cycling was influenced by the racing success of his brother, world champion sprinter Marino Basso. What began as a small workshop producing handcrafted steel racing frames quickly developed into an internationally respected brand known for meticulous craftsmanship and rider-focused design. From its early expansion into European markets to its adoption of advanced carbon fibre technology in the 1990s, Basso has always combined traditional Italian frame-building heritage with modern engineering. Today the company remains family-owned and proudly rooted in northern Italy, continuing to build performance bicycles that balance speed, handling and comfort.
