The new Orbea Orca Aero is a pure race-focused aero road bike developed around real-world speed rather than wind-tunnel numbers alone. Its redesigned OMX carbon frame, integrated cockpit and wheel/frame system aim to reduce drag across a range of wind angles, while a low, stable riding position and generous modern tyre clearance bring greater versatility to an uncompromising race machine. 

Key highlights

• Frame weight: approximately 900 g for the OMX frame, with a claimed stiffness-to-weight improvement of 27.5% over the previous generation.

• Tyre clearance: 37 mm maximum clearance (quoted as 35C plus a 5 mm safety margin), optimised around modern 29–35 mm race tyres.

• Aero gains: Orbea claims a 21 W saving versus the previous Orca Aero, with a further claimed 14 W reduction at 50 km/h attributed to improved stability and reduced rider movement.

• Aero approach: tube profiles and integration are designed to perform efficiently at 5–20° yaw angles, reflecting real-world crosswind conditions.

• Race handling: a low stack, long reach and low centre of gravity are intended to deliver a fast, planted and responsive ride.
