The Colnago Y1Rs Dark Series takes Colnago’s uncompromising aero race bike and strips it back to its purest form. Created in a strictly limited run of just 300 Y1Rs bikes worldwide, the Dark Series combines WorldTour-developed aerodynamics with an exposed carbon finish inspired by the stripped-back race machines used at the highest level of professional cycling.

Rather than concealing the frame beneath a conventional paint scheme, Colnago allows the carbon itself to become the visual centrepiece. A transparent protective lacquer reveals the individual character of the carbon layup beneath, while titanium-tone chrome graphics and Colnago’s unmistakable Ace of Clubs complete an understated yet unmistakably special aesthetic.

Born from the WorldTour

The philosophy behind the Dark Series has its roots in professional racing.

During the 2025 Tour de France, Tadej Pogačar raced stripped-back versions of the Y1Rs on key mountain stages, removing unnecessary finishing weight while retaining the aerodynamic advantage of Colnago’s fastest road platform.

The Dark Series brings that same minimalist approach to a limited-production bike: less decoration, visible carbon and an aesthetic remarkably close to a factory race machine.

Colnago’s Ultimate Aero Platform

Beneath its distinctive finish sits the formidable Y1Rs platform.

Designed around aerodynamic efficiency at racing speeds, the Y1Rs has a 19% smaller frontal area than the V4Rs. Its sculpted carbon frame, curved downtube and fully integrated components have been developed to control airflow around both bike and rider.

Colnago’s wind-tunnel testing found that the Y1Rs requires approximately 20 watts less power than the V4Rs to maintain 50 km/h in its tested race configuration.

That advantage matters wherever speed is high: attacking from a breakaway, driving across exposed roads, contesting a sprint or simply turning every available watt into forward motion.

Perhaps the Y1Rs' most distinctive feature is its extraordinary CC.Y1 integrated cockpit.

DEFY Comfort Technology

At the rear of the frame, Colnago's distinctive DEFY seatpost joint uses a dual Y-shaped structure designed both to improve airflow around the seatpost area and help absorb vibration from the road.

It gives the Y1Rs the compliance needed for long days in the saddle without compromising the stiffness and aerodynamic performance demanded in competition.

What ultimately separates the Y1Rs Dark Series from the standard Y1Rs is its finish.

Instead of conventional paint, the frame receives a transparent protective lacquer, leaving the texture and construction of the carbon fibre clearly visible. Titanium-tone chrome decals provide a subtle contrast against the dark carbon beneath.
